| dc.description.abstract | This paper reports a list of midges (Diptera; Ceratopogonidae) collected from cacao flowers in Palmira, Colombia. Forcipomyia (Euprojoannisia) blantoni Soria and Bymak was considered the most important species to pollinate Cacao flowers in the area. This conclusion was based on the determination of the flower visiting habits of this insect that fit the flower biology of Theobroma Cacao L. Other species identified were F. (Forcipomyia) genualis (Loew), F. (F.) argenteola Macfie, F. (F.) cinctipes Macfie , F. (Microhelea) fuliginoso (Meigen), F. (Losiohelea) stylifera Lutz, Dasyhelea near grisea, Culicoides insignis (Lutz), C. pusillus (Lutz), Stylobezia near pruinosa Wirth and a few other species not identified yet. | pt_BR |
