Abstract

A method of rearing lhe mealybug P. njalensis on cocoa seedlings without the presence of its obligatory attcndant ant is described. The method prevent, the honeydew secreted by the mealybugs from slicking onto their bodies and thus eliminates the source of fungal attack which leads to the extinction of the mealybug colony. Thc method also prevents the young mealybugs from wandering.
