Abstract: A Survey was undertaken to investigate the plant parasitic nematodes associated with field crops and forest trees in the Cacao Region of the State of Espirito Santo, Brazil. A total of 22 genera wilh 32 species of plant parasitic nematodes wcre found in 66 samples collected from the rhizospheres of 41 plant species. The most common genera found were Helicotylenchus, Meloidogyne, Tylenchus, Pratylenchus, Aphelenchus and Rotylenchus, occurring in 15 to 61.5 per cent of a li lhe samples. Certain genera such as Basiria, Discocriconemella, Dolichodorus, Hemicycliophora. Paylenchus. Radopholus, Rotylenchus and Tylenchulus appeared to be uncommon in this region, each only occurring ooce in a sample. The plant nematode species identified are listed.
