Abstract: A new species of plant parasitic nematode, Dolichodorus minoro characterized by the presence of postanal phasmids in both sexes, body size below 2 mm, spear length 54-82 p.m and denticulate bursal alae, was collected from soil a round roots of the following diseased plant species: Cocos nucifera L., Hevea brasiliensis (Muell) Argo, Theobroma cacao L., Ananas comosus (L.) Merril, Psidium guajava L., Gladiolus communis L., Hamelia erecta Jacquin, Piper nigrum L. and Eugenia caryophyllata Thunb., in Valença, Ituberá and CEPLAC (Ilhéus), Bahia, Brazil. Key to the species of Dolichodorus Cobb, 1914 is also presented o D. kirjanovae Sagitov, 1973 is transferred to the genus Merlinius Siddiqi, 1970.
