Angular leaf spot of cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.) caused by Septoria anacardii sp. nov. In: Agrotrópica v. 9 p. 19-22, 1997.

Abstract

A new fungus species herein referred as Septoria anacardii is described causing typical angular leaf spots on cashew plants in Brasil. Spots are more conspicuous on seedling leaves. The fungus produces black or dark brown pycnidia, erumpent, which are ostiolate, mainly hipophyllous seldom epiphyllous. Conidia are hyaline, moderately to strongly curved, 38-66 x 2.5-5.0 mm, and have 3-8 septa. S. anacardii is nowadays widespread throughout cashew plantations of the Brasilian northeast but it does not appear to pose a threat for cashew crops.
