Abstract: | Several species of Phytophthora have been associated with black pod one of the most important diseases of cacao on a world wide basis. The important taxonomic caracters of P. capsici, P. citrophthora, P. heveae, P. megakarya, P. megasperma and P. palmivora, their geographical distribution and different sources of inoculum are discussed in this review. |
